04/16/2009BYRON -- The memorial service for Jennifer Lee Day will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Ranfranz & Vine Funeral Home Chapel in Rochester. Jennifer Lee Day, 35, of Byron, died Monday (April 13, 2009) at her residence. She was born Feb. 17, 1974, to William Lloyd and Barbara (Mensing) Day, in Rochester. She graduated from Byron High School in 1992 and continued her education at Rochester Community & Technical College. She then worked in medical transcription at Mayo Clinic, and later in the security department at IBM. She was currently employed by American Water Works in Pine Island and was pursuing an accounting degree at RCTC. She loved spending time with her friends and family. She is survived by her mother, Barbara; three brothers, John, Joseph and Justin; grandmother, Dorothy Mensing-Van Lith; grandfather, Dean Day; a niece, Ashley Marie Day; and her boyfriend, Mike Rolfson. She was preceded in death by her father; grandmother, Donna Day; and grandfather, Kenneth Mensing. Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Friday at Ranfranz & Vine Funeral Home, and an hour before the service Saturday at the funeral home.

05/03/2004ROCHESTER -- The funeral for Dr. Jonathan H. Kvernen will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Rochester Covenant Church, with the Rev. Gary Downing officiating. Private family interment will be in Oakwood East Cemetery at a later date. Dr. Kvernen, 29, of Rochester, a resident of family practice in La Crosse, Wis., died Saturday (May 1, 2004) at Rochester Methodist Hospital. He was diagnosed with cancer in September 2003. Born July 31, 1974, in Fergus Falls, Minn., he graduated from Byron High School in 1992 and attended North Park College in Chicago. In 2000, he graduated from the University of Minnesota Medical School in Duluth. He was a resident of family practice at Franciscan-Skemp Medical Center in La Crosse before returning to Rochester last fall. On July 23, 1999, he married Svea Christine Wall at Christ Community Church in Rochester. She is a homemaker. Dr. Kvernen was a member of Rochester Covenant Church.Survivors include his wife; two sons, Benjamin Gerald and Andrew Jonathan, both at home; his parents, Donald and Rosella Kvernen of Rochester; a brother, Joshua Paul (Elisabeth) of Washington, D.C.; and his paternal grandmother, Ruth Kvernen of Portland, N.D. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather and maternal grandparents. Friends may call from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Ranfranz &; Vine Funeral Homes and an hour before the service Wednesday at the church. Memorials are suggested to Rochester Covenant Church.

Lori L. More, 42, of Byron, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 15, 2015, at Saint Marys Hospital from a brain aneurysm. 

Lori (Rieser) More was born Sept. 30, 1973, in Rochester, to Jerry and Cindy (Turner) Rieser. Lori was raised in the Byron area and graduated from Byron High School in 1992. She attended and graduated from St. Olaf College in 1996 with a degree in Social Work. She worked at Snyder Drug Store in Rochester, Forest Ridge in Estherville, Iowa, and most recently at Mayo Clinic in Rochester. Lori married Larry More on July 26, 1997, in Boe Chapel at St. Olaf College. Lori was an active member of Christ Lutheran Church in Byron, where she was a council member, sang in the church choir and was a confirmation mentor. Lori loved attending her kid's sporting events and recitals. She also enjoyed card club and book club. 

Lori is survived by her husband, Larry; children, Allison, Abby and Ethan; her parents, Jerry and Cindy Rieser; brother, John (Jamie) Rieser and their children, Isaiah, Isabel and Elijah; her mother-in-law, Carol More; brothers-in-law, Steve (Noreen) More, Jeff (Julie) More and Marvin (Alicia) More; sisters-in-law, Debra (Carl) Fugleberg and Lynda (Steve) Kruse; aunts, uncles and many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Glenn and Lucille Rieser and Dale and Millie Turner; and father-in-law, Alvis More.

A funeral service will be on Friday, Dec. 18, at 11 a.m. at Christ Lutheran Church, 201 Frontage Road NW in Byron, with the Rev. Steve Rheingans officiating. Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 17, at Ranfranz & Vine Funeral Homes and one hour prior to the service at the church on Friday. Burial will be at Byron Cemetery. 

Memorials are preferred to family.

03/09/2000 BYRON -- The funeral for Hieda A. Weitzenkamp will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Faith Lutheran Church in Dodge Center, with the Rev. Lawrence Nelson officiating. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery in Dodge Center. Miss Weitzenkamp, 25, of Byron, a chef and nursing assistant, died Wednesday (March 8, 2000) in the emergency room of Saint Mary’s Hospital. Born July 30, 1974, in Rochester, she grew up in Byron and graduated from Byron High School in 1992. She lived in Byron and was employed as a chef in a number of Rochester restaurants and as a nursing assistant at Mayo Medical Center. Survivors include a daughter, Alexandra Biwer of Byron; her father, Jon A. Weitzenkamp of Plainfield, Iowa; her mother and stepfather, Christine and Tom O'Brien of rural Dodge Center; a half brother, Jon Weitzenkamp of Michigan; a sister, Dana Weitzenkamp of Salt Lake City, Utah; a half sister, Ciara Threinen of Garden Grove, Calif.; paternal grandparents, Dennis and Jean Weitzenkamp of Dodge Center; and maternal grandparents, Donald and Patricia Johnston of Stewartville. Friends may call from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Friday at Dibble Funeral Home in Kasson and an hour before the service Saturday at the church. Memorials are suggested to the family for her daughter's trust fund.
